We believe the climate crisis is a health crisis- the decisions we take today will shape the health of this and future generations to come. Cleaner air, oceans and habitats directly impact most chronic health conditions. Extreme weather events are more common now due to climate change. We are committed to taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint and to delivering information and resources to you that explain why it is so important to you, us and the planet.
Why This Matters
Climate change is increasingly recognised as a major threat to public health. From air pollution to extreme weather, its effects can directly impact wellbeing. As a healthcare provider, we have a responsibility to reduce our environmental impact while continuing to deliver safe, high-quality care.
But we can’t do it alone — small actions from all of us can make a big difference.
What We’re Doing
We are committed to becoming a more sustainable GP practice. Here are some of the steps we’re taking:
- Reducing waste by minimising paper use and improving recycling
- Using digital services such as online consultations and electronic prescriptions
- Improving energy efficiency within our building
- Working with suppliers who share our environmental values
- Encouraging greener travel where possible
How You Can Help
There are simple things you can do to support both your health and the environment:
🌱 Choose Digital First
- Order prescriptions online
- Use our online consultation tools where appropriate
- Opt for text or email communication instead of paper
🚶 Travel Sustainably
- Walk or cycle to the practice if you can
- Consider car sharing or public transport
💊 Order Medicines Responsibly
- Only request medications you actually need
- Check what you have at home before ordering
- Return unused medicines to your pharmacy
♻️ Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
- Bring a reusable bag for prescriptions
- Recycle packaging where possible
Healthier Planet, Healthier You
Many environmentally friendly choices are also good for your health:
- Walking or cycling improves fitness and mental wellbeing
- Eating a balanced diet with more plant-based foods supports both personal and planetary health
- Reducing pollution helps everyone breathe cleaner air

Our Commitment
We are continually reviewing our practices and looking for new ways to reduce our environmental impact. Sustainability is an ongoing journey, and we are proud to take these steps alongside our patients.
We are also proud to have achieved the Green Impact Bronze Award, recognising the steps we have already taken to become a more environmentally sustainable practice.
