Support for Carers

Do you help look after a family member, friend, partner or child who couldn’t manage without your support? You may be a carer. Carers can be employed, formal or informal.

An informal career are individuals who provide unpaid care and support to a family member, friend, or neighbour who needs help due to illness, disability, or old age.

Examples of Informal Care:

  • Helping with daily tasks like getting out of bed or getting dressed.
  • Providing personal care, such as bathing or toileting.
  • Offering emotional support to help someone cope with illness or disability.
  • Assisting with medication management.
  • Providing companionship and social interaction.

It is important that you let a member of staff at the Practice know that you are a carer – no matter on what level – so that we can help support you while you look after others.

We know that caring for someone can be challenging and can impact your own health and well-being. At Brook Square Surgery, we have many different services that we offer to support you too including Social Prescribers, Physiotherapists, First Contact Mental Health workers along side our experienced clinical staff.
