Our waste
Like any business, the surgery produces waste! Here’s how it gets dealt with:
- Paper: confidential waste can take lots of forms in the surgery and we are obliged to look after it- our confidential waste is shredded and added to our recycling collection. You can help us in reducing some of this waste from being generated in the first place!
- Clinical waste: anything that could be contaminated with body fluids or infectious contaminants- you may be familiar with the bright orange bags and sharps boxes. We want to do our bit by only making sure that genuine clinical waste ends up here, rather than in domestic waste.
- Domestic waste: anything that doesn’t fall into the other groups- so anything generated by having people and staff in the building. Our staff room/reception area has a recycling bin and domestic waste bin. We have plans to make sure we are capturing any domestic waste that is recyclable or reusable and will update this section soon.
